Avenue Bridge Collaboration Program
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
As summer approaches, we are gearing up for our 3rd annual SPARK Summer Camp in partnership with both Florence Howard Elementary School and Calloway-Smith Middle School. The month of June will be all about uniting community partners to close educational gaps and expand opportunities for children in the Avenue community.
Florence Howard Elementary School: Florence Howard’s academic summer camp focuses on literacy and math remediation for qualified students in the Avenue community. We provide additional resources such as extended camp hours, supplies, on-site field trips, summer activity backpacks, weekly incentives, and an end-of-camp celebration to encourage attendance and academic engagement.
Calloway-Smith Middle School: At Calloway-Smith, Fuse Project will fund educators to strengthen students’ foundational math skills through targeted instruction and interactive activities for those students currently performing two to three grade levels below in math. The goal is to add fun, subtract stress, multiply success, and really make this summer count.
Vision: Combine the joy of learning with the excitement of STEAM, creating a unique and dynamic experience that inspires creativity, builds skill, and improves students’ readiness for the upcoming school year. In 2024, we saw an overall 20.75% growth in ACAP scores at Florence Howard Elementary and a 5% increase in math proficiency at Calloway-Smith Middle. "Hands-on learning is key, and that is exactly what our partnership with Fuse Project brings." stated Mrs. Flowers, the principal of Florence Howard Elementary School. By actively engaging students in extra-curricular clubs, onsite and offsite field trips, and hands-on activities, our ABC Program addresses multiple aspects of a child's whole health and empowers students to apply their learning in meaningful ways.
